The WKXNTC was instrumental in leading its member Nations together with the Heilstuk Nation to oppose a very unafvourable arrangement for having Human Resources Canada funding managed by the distant and dstinct StoLo Tribal Council. After several years of lobbying, coordinated by the WKXNTC, the Nations’ training funds were reassigned to a new organization founded in 2001 by the the WKXNTC Nations and the Heiltsuk: the Mid-Coast First Nations Training Society which is headquartered at Bella Bella:
